Just in time for tax checks, Walmart (NYSE: WMT) is bringing customers a new low-cost option for cashing checks in Connecticut. Walmart stores statewide will now offer low-cost check cashing on payroll, government-issued and tax refund checks. Walmart will celebrate the official kick off of check cashing in Connecticut with a Feb. 5 community event at the Walmart on Flatbush Avenue in Hartford.

This morning, Bank of America upgraded shares of Charles Schwab (SCHW) from Neutral to Buy as the company is expected to benefit from the price wars with E*Trade (ETFC) and Ameritrade (AMTD). Last month, Schwab lowered its online equity commissions to $8.95 per trade in an effort to gain new accounts from its competitors, and Bank of America believes will begin to show results soon.
